Over the weekend, artist and LGBTQ rights activist Yuliya Tsvetkova, who is on the draw for posting on social media for criminal distribution of pornography, announced a hunger strike.
In a Facebook post published by Activist Khodreva’s mother on behalf of Activist, Tsvetkova stated that her main demand is to expedite the deliberations of the officers’ case, which has been withdrawn for nearly two years.
The case was repeatedly referred for “further investigation” and (very suspicious) evidence was repeatedly inserted into it. They were not able to confirm the indictment. They were not able to appoint a court. Now there is a hearing once a month. Two year investigation. Two years of life were stolen. To repost [on social media] And even these two years will not be counted towards the word [of the sentence], Because I am under the mildest measure of restraint. ”
Tsivekova called on the state to “be a man” and open proceedings against him, and gave him the opportunity to defend himself in all legal ways through a public defender.
Am i scared I think yes. But I don’t have much to lose. My health has been compromised for a long time. Thank you for the work of the state, [I have] There was almost no connection left as work, colleagues or friends. I have only my dignity, and now I am glad that I am doing what my conscience says.
The criminal investigation of Yuliya Tsvetkova, from the far eastern city of Komsomolsk-on-Amur, was opened in November 2019. She was placed under house arrest until March 2020, at which point she was not written to leave. . State investigators accused him of criminal distribution of pornography in June 2020.
Tsvetkova has faced pressure from authorities because of his art and activism for more than two years. In particular she has been repeatedly fined for her artwork under Russia’s “gay propaganda law”, which prohibits the promotion of “non-traditional sexual relations” among minors.
