Japan PM Suga plans to go to India, Philippines from finish of April

    Sources within the authorities mentioned on Wednesday that Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga has been planning a visit to India and the Philippines since late April.

    By visits, Japan seeks to reaffirm its cooperation with nations on its imaginative and prescient of an unbiased and open Indo-Pacific area whereas China will increase its assertiveness within the area.

    Suga has underscored the significance of cooperation with the USA, Australia and India – collectively referred to as the Quad – extensively seen as a retaliation for China’s rising dominance. By assembly Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Suga clearly desires to additional strengthen the framework.

    Suga is scheduled to go to the USA on 16 April to carry talks with President Joe Biden. Suga already met with Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison in Tokyo in November.
