    How to add music to your Instagram story

    Most Instagram users take advantage of the Stories feature, allowing you to post small missing photos and videos with gifts, emojis, and even music.

    Adding music to your Instagram story is a simple process when you know where to look. You can also add music directly from other applications like Spotify, SoundCloud, and Shazam.

    If you do not have the option to add music, how to do all this or troubleshoot.

    How to add music to your Instagram story

    To add music to an Instagram story, tap the square smiley face icon in the top-right, and select the music sticker in the pop-up menu. Select a song by searching in the list and customize it using the button that appears below your story.

    Here is a complete step-by-step breakdown.

    1 is Open the Instagram app on your iOS or Android device.

    2. Swipe from the home screen of your feed to the left to open the stories feature. Alternatively, tap the plus “+” sign on your profile picture in the upper-left corner to create a new story.

    3. Take or select the photo or video you want to post on your Instagram Story.

    5. In the pop-up, tap on the “Music” option. Then, in the search box that appears, type a song or scroll through the listed options.

    ६. Tap on the song you want to include when you join the list.

    Draw a small strip at the bottom of the screen of the song you want on your story.

    You can adjust the length of the music segment from five to 15 seconds by tapping the circle to the left of the music clip that reads “15” by default.

    Hit “Complete” when finished. You can then drag the song icon to a different location, or pinch the icon outward or inward to make it larger or smaller. Then post your story as you normally would.

    Also, if you’re listening to music on another app, you can add it directly to your Instagram story from Spotify, SoundCloud, or Zazam. Here’s how to do it on each app:

    ६. Once you post your story, a link will appear at the top of the story that says “Play on Spotify.” Anyone who views your story can click this link to move it directly to the playlist on that song, album, or Spotify.

    Add Music to Instagram Story from SoundCloud

    1 is Open the SoundCloud app on your iOS or Android device.

    2. Find the song, album, or playlist you want to add to your Instagram story and tap the ellipse icon.

    1 is Open the Shazam app on your iOS or Android device.

    2. You can “Tap to Shazam” to identify a new song, or choose a song from your list of previous Shazam. Once you identify a song, tap on it so that it goes full-screen.

    3. On the song’s full-screen page, tap the icon of the three vertical dots in the top-right corner.

    How to add music to an Instagram story if you don’t have a music sticker

    1 is Open a music streaming app on your device, like Spotify or Apple Music.

    2. Start playing the song you want to use.

    3. With the song ringing, go back to Instagram and record your story; Music playing on your phone will be integrated. However, you will not be able to add a dynamic album cover or live song.

    If you do not have a music sticker on Instagram, this could be:

    • You live in a country where the facility is not available. Music is enabled on the app in more than 90 countries, but due to strict adherence to Instagram’s copyright law, it is disabled in some countries.
    • Your app is out of date. You may just need to update Instagram.
    • You are trying to share a branded content campaign. Due to copyright laws and Instagram’s advertising policies, music and certain other features such as stickers and emojis are not allowed in branded content ads.
