The British Telegraph reported on Monday that the former British spy had made explosive claims about Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and that Russia had produced a second, previously unproven dossier.
Christopher Steele’s first dossier was leaked and published by BuzzFeed in January 2017.
That report detailed several claims of links between the Trump campaign and Russia, and it came to the attention of the Senate Intelligence Committee and the FBI as they investigated Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.
The document also claimed that Russia had substandard material on Trump, including a tape with prostitutes in Moscow’s hotel room in 2013.
Some of its allegations have proved to be true, although much is still undocumented. Trump has called it false.
The Telegraph reported citing unnamed sources that Steele produced for Trump during his presidency as the second president on Trump for the FBI, which ran from January 2017 to January 2021.
The Telegraph wrote that the second document contained “raw intelligence that makes further claims of Russian arbitration in the US election and also references claims about the existence of further sex tapes.”
The newspaper also stated that the second dossier relied on sources different from the first one.
It also stated that the existence of a second dossier suggested that the FBI believed in the material in its first dossier.
Insiders were unable to reach the FBI for comment and contacted Trump’s office for comment.
